Bird Boy (without tail) by Laura Ford |
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan and the London Assembly have
officially moved into the new City Hall at the Royal Docks.
The Greater London Authority (GLA) left its rented base near
London Bridge in December and has relocated to what was
previously known as the Crystal building, which it owns
outright.

'Landed' by Lee Johnson
|
|
'Landed' shows
three actual dock-workers, Johnny Ringwood, a former seaman, Patrick
Holland, a stevedore shown here as a tally clerk, and Mark Tibbs, a
former professional boxer from Canning Town. |
|
|
The art work 'Landed' by Lee Johnson
is very much a local initiate, driven by Johnny Ringwood who saw a
similar tribute to steelworkers on a visit to Sheffield’s Meadowhall
shopping centre and thought something similar would be suitable for the
docks. |
