Bob and James Bowen |
BOB, the street cat has died aged 14. James
Bowen has paid tribute to his beloved pet Bob saying that his life was
“saved” by him and that there had “never been a cat like him and never
will be again”. |
The pair shot to fame after an article by Tribune shined
a light on the touching story of how the ginger mog had formed an
inseparable bond with Mr Bowen when he was homeless. They
were regularly seen outside Angel tube station with Bob slunk around Mr
Bowen’s neck for hours as he played the guitar and sold the Big Issue.
Mr Bowen, who lived with Bob off Seven Sisters Road in Finsbury Park,
said: “Bob saved my life. It’s as simple as that. He gave me so much
more than companionship. With him at my side, I found a direction and
purpose that I’d been missing. The success we achieved together through
our books and films was miraculous. He’s met thousands of people,
touched millions of lives. There’s never been a cat like him. And never
will again. |
